Dan + Shay come to Mohegan Sun
If a band or duo uses the “and” conjunction or a variation thereof in their name, does the act have a designated grammarian in charge of determining which works for their specific lineup? History suggests an array, from the actual word “and” to the ampersand symbol to bastardizations.
Examples of each: Seals and Crofts. Buddy Holly & the Crickets. Guns N’ Roses.
Who knows how those decisions were made? No memoirs or biographies so far have shed any light on such things, which is a shame.
And lately, enterprising musicos have started employing the “plus” sign to designate a connective!
I’m talking about YOU, country pop duo Dan + Shay.
The pair headline the Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday. Of late, they’ve released three advance singles — “Heartbreak on the Map,” “Save Me the Trouble” and “Bigger Houses” — from an album that will be released in September. Anticipate much mid-tempo, close harmony heartbreak + reconciliation & big sales N’ several Grammy nominations.
Dan + Shay, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; with Jonathan Hutcherson; $59.50-$129.50; mohegansun.com.
